On Friday, August 14th, 2020 I hopped in the car with a friend to drive around the east side of the Hudson Valley looking for a new location to shoot at. My previous favorite spot is now a little risky to shoot at, and I needed to find a place that offered the same vibes, versatility, and most importantly, it needed a beautiful golden hour.
First we went to a spot I've driven by quite a few times, I had never stopped to check it out. It was a grass lot behind a massive church, and it was relatively nice, but just not versatile enough.
Second, we went to a local middle school that happens to have great views of the Hudson Valley, but there just wasn't enough room for a photoshoot. I also did not want to risk getting kicked off of private property with cameras.
Next, we went to a really pretty spot my friend had grown up hanging out at. I really liked the space but unfortunately, it was quite a walk to get to and I would prefer not to bring clients on a small hike to a photoshoot. It also faced east, so a sunrise would be incredible, but not ideal.
I was quite out of ideas and at this point aimlessly driving around with no specific destination. I got back to the main road towards home and didn't want to give up yet, so I turned onto a road that I knew was heading north & towards some farm land. I noticed a left turn coming up and the thought crossed my mine, "I wonder what's down here." I then decided took the random left turn, the most random and aimless left turn of my life, which happened to be one of the best random decisions I've ever made. Y'all, mine and my friend's jaws dropped to the floor. As soon as we hooked the turn it opened to this beautiful, massive open plot of land with trees and rolling hills in the background, the sun traveling directly behind it, it was everything I wanted and more.
Today is Monday, August 24th, 2020. Since I came across it on Friday, August 14th, I have done 3 photoshoots at this new location already. There will be countless more.
Can't wait to show you some photos!
